A Gift for Coach Eady

On Wednesday, December 22, 2010, I received a great surprise from a few of the families of the boys that I coach and work with on Baseball skills.  It was just another evening that I looked forward to working with Nick Ramirez who is developing into an awesome hitter, and I also had the pleasure of meeting another young man that may play for me in the summer time.  We focused on hitting left handed all session.  Mind you these boys are only 13 years old. 

When the session was over, Mr. Ramirez who is one of the greatest men that I know in Rio Rancho, NM and his wife presented me this gift basket.  Of course I was stunned with surprise.  Never would I expect gifts or money for working with boys to help them play baseball better.  So many emotions came up, but I stayed cool and thanked them for what they had done.

I could not wait to get home and share this honor with my wife.  I was so proud to receive such an honor an even prouder of the people who thought enough of me to go out of their way to consider me.  The first thing I did was take a photo, which you see above.  Secondly, my wife and I began to look through the cellophane wrap at the goodies inside.  While I won't list everything, it had my favorites.  Sunflower seeds, line up cards, a fancy baseball clipboard, a pitch counter, gift certificates for fine dining establishments, chocolate and a fine beverage.   

After just taking in the love that was shown through the gift, I placed it under our Christmas tree.  I am just so thankful for the boys and their families and the opportunity to share my love of the game. 

God is good all the time, and I pray that he continues to bless the boys, their families and the time we come together to work on Baseball skills.
